BBC Panorama programme increases interest in eziTracker
Following the broadcast of the BBC Panorama Special on Homecare, Panztel UK Ltd have seen a significant increase in interest in their eziTracker hm homecare monitoring service.
The BBC programme - “Britain’s Homecare Scandal” - was broadcast on the 9th April and presented a deeply disturbing report on current home care provision in the UK. The film painted a distressing picture of chaos and neglect in the care of the elderly, with evidence of inadequate care, missed visits and curtailed care provision. Blame was apportioned on Central Government for underfunding the sector, independent homecare providers for failing to deliver the commissioned care and the Local Authorities for failing to adequately manage the private sector provision.
Since the programme was broadcast Panztel have seen a significant upturn in enquiries from both care providers and Local Authorities. Reflecting on the increased interest in the eziTracker hm service Panztel Managing Director Jonathan Hudson commented: "We’ve seen a steep rise in enquiries for our eziTracker hm service since the BBC programme and this cannot be a coincidence. The programme has brought home to care commissioners the urgent need for a proven system of homecare monitoring capable of ensuring that commissioned homecare is actually delivered on time and for the stipulated period, as planned. As a result, an increasing number of Providers are now realising that EHM is likely to be a mandatory requirement from their Local Authority and this has been reflected in our enquiry levels for eziTracker.
“Clearly the problems highlighted by the BBC have complicated roots and are bound up with intractable funding issues. However the answer can’t be to allow the present state of affairs to continue, whereby providers often feel obliged to fail to deliver care plans. It isn’t fair to Care Providers, isn’t fair to commissioners and it certainly isn’t fair to service users. Requiring all commissioned Providers to adopt homecare monitoring systems like eziTracker has to be the sensible way forward”.
